^MT - Media Type

Sets media type (thermal, direct thermal, transfer)

^MT - Media Type

Overview

The ^MT command specifies the type of media being used, which affects how the printer applies heat and ink.

Syntax

^MTa

Parameters

  • a = Media type
    • T = Thermal transfer (ribbon required)
    • D = Direct thermal (heat-sensitive label)
    • C = Cutter enabled

Description

  • Configures printer for media type
  • Determines heat application method
  • Affects print appearance
  • Critical for quality output

Usage Notes

  • Set at format beginning
  • Must match physical media
  • Affects all labels in format
  • Printer default is typically D
