~HB - Battery Status

Overview

The ~HB command returns battery status information for battery-powered printers, including current battery voltage, head voltage under load, and battery temperature. Used for monitoring battery health and preventing unexpected shutdowns.

Parameters

Description

  • Returns battery voltage readings
  • Shows printhead voltage under load
  • Includes battery temperature
  • Useful for preventive maintenance
  • Processed immediately

Return Format

<STX>bb.bb,hh.hh,bt<ETX><CR><LF>

Response Fields

  • bb.bb = Current battery voltage (quarter-volt resolution)
  • hh.hh = Head voltage under load (quarter-volt resolution)
  • bt = Battery temperature

Examples

Request Battery Status

Returns: <STX>12.50,11.75,25<ETX><CR><LF>

Interpretation:

  • Battery voltage: 12.50 volts
  • Head voltage: 11.75 volts
  • Temperature: 25°C

Low Battery

~HB

Returns: <STX>10.75,10.25,30<ETX><CR><LF>

Indicates low battery condition.

Battery Maintenance

Healthy Battery

  • Voltage: 12-15 volts
  • Head voltage: 11-14 volts
  • Temperature: 15-35°C

Warning Signs

  • Voltage drops below 11 volts
  • Temperature exceeds 40°C
  • Rapid voltage drop
