^CD / ~CD - Change Delimiter

Overview

The ^CD command changes the parameter delimiter character from the default comma (,) to a different character.

Syntax

^CDa

or

~CDa

Parameters

  • a = New delimiter character (any printable ASCII)

Description

  • Changes parameter separator from comma to specified character
  • Useful when comma appears in field data
  • Both ^ and ~ versions identical
  • Applied immediately

Usage Notes

  • Place at format beginning
  • Affects all subsequent commands
  • Must be consistent throughout
  • Rarely needed in practice
