^SR - Set Head Resistance

Sets printhead resistance value

^SR - Set Head Resistance

Overview

The ^SR command sets the printhead resistance value via ZPL, allowing configuration of the printer for different printhead types. Ensures correct electrical characteristics for optimal print quality and printhead longevity.

Syntax

^SR###

Parameters

  • ### = Resistance in ohms (488-1175)

Description

  • Configures printhead resistance
  • Electrical parameter
  • Must match printhead rating
  • Critical for performance

Examples

Standard Printhead

^SR725

High-Resistance Printhead

^SR1000

Important WARNING

⚠️ CRITICAL:

  • Value must be ≤ printhead rating
  • Setting higher than rating damages printhead
  • Check printhead label for rating
  • Verify before setting

Consequences of Errors

Too High

  • Printhead damage
  • Premature failure
  • Poor print quality
  • Permanent harm

Too Low

  • Poor print quality
  • Inconsistent printing
  • Possible overcurrent

Correct Procedure

  1. Check printhead label
  2. Note resistance value
  3. Send: ^SRnnn (matching value)
  4. Verify operation
  • ^JT - Head Test Interval
  • ^JW - Set Ribbon Tension
  • ~JN - Head Test Fatal
