^JM - Set Dots per Millimeter

Changes printing resolution (density)

^JM - Set Dots per Millimeter

Overview

The ^JM command changes the printing resolution by adjusting dots per millimeter. Allows reducing print density from standard (12, 8, or 6 dpmm) to lower density (6, 4, or 3 dpmm) for applications not requiring high resolution, improving print speed.

Syntax

^JMn

Parameters

  • n = Density mode
    • A = Normal density
    • B = Low density

Description

  • Adjusts print resolution
  • Reduces density for speed
  • Affects entire label format
  • Must precede first ^FS

Resolution by Printhead

Considerations

Advantages of Low Density

  • Faster printing
  • Reduced media consumption
  • Quicker output
  • Draft quality acceptable

Disadvantages

  • Lower quality output
  • Reduced sharpness
  • Smaller details lost
  • Less professional appearance

Usage Notes

  • Must be before first ^FS
  • Affects entire format
  • Useful for draft labels
  • Good for large text
  • Not for graphics/barcodes
  • ^A - Scalable/Bitmapped Font
  • ^BY - Change Narrow Bar Width
